Adobe drops Mac support for Premiere
[Archived in Entry, Video Editing Software]

„Those of you who love your Mac and Adobe Premiere are going to be disappointed when the new version of the video editing software ships: It only runs on Windows XP. Too bad given that the new G5s are due out soon, with some heavy horsepower that's perfect for video editing. With no Premiere on the Mac, where will you turn for your video editing needs?“

Some slightly related:
„Obviously, there are some problems with a company like Apple developing its own solutions where previously third-parties fit the bill: Apple can chase a juggernaut like Adobe out of the marketplace, and it can veritably crush smaller companies if it needs to. That might ultimately lead Mac users down a path of homogenity and mediocrity in product that could be that which killed the proverbial golden egg-laying goose. But I suspect Apple will continue to innovate and provide useful and user-friendly technology that's feature-rich, enough so to sustain itself and be healthy.“http://www.tikkabik.com/archives/000534.html - Cached
„Apple’s development of professional software has put it into direct competition with some of its leading developers, most notable of which is Adobe. With Premiere’s departure from the Mac there has been a lot of talk in the mainstream tech press about developers commitment to the Macintosh, and there have been rumours recently that Discreet will stop developing Combustion on the Mac. But the irony is, that most Mac video professionals saw the writing on the wall for Premiere months ago.“http://www.thomas-fitzgerald.net/mt_test/archives/ 000023.html - Cached

„Rest assured that Premiere is still in great fighting form. It's a mature, full-blown video editor with plenty of refined, sophisticated features. For example, you can capture video from any DV camera or analog-video source (analog-capture card not included), organize media clips into bins, edit clips on the timeline with specialized tools (creating ripple edits, rolls, slips, slides, markers, match frames, and so on), mix audio tracks in real time, apply keyframe video-filter effects, and build and animate text titles.“http://www.macaddict.com/issues/0212/ rev.premiere.html - Cached

„Continuing down the same FAQ list, I also discovered something Bright House didn’t tell me (not that I really expected them to), nor is it found in the “barely a manual” manual. I can program the remote to turn on several of my AV devices with just one button. Yes, unlike the prior digital cable boxes that Time Warner advised is best to just leave turned on, these PVR boxes are best turned off when not in use.“http://www.dtpbylee.com/blog/archives/ 2003_07.html - Cached
