[Adrians Curatorship] My New, New Podcasting Rig: Albatron Mars PX915P Pro Motherboard with an Intel Prescott Pentium 4 520 (LGA775, 800FSB, 1MB L2, HT) CPU at 2.8GHz with 512MB of DDR3200 ram (soon to be 2 GB). I have a CoolerMaster Hyper48 CPU Cooler with a 92mm fan. At first I used the original fan that came with the Heatsink, but it ran off the mobo PWM, and I couldn’t get it to be very quiet due to the Albatron Bios not slowing the fan down slow enough, so I picked up a 3 pin (non PWM) thermistor temperature controlled fan at CompUSA, and installed that in place of the stock CoolerMaster fan.

X-bit labs - Hardware news - ASUS Offers to Install Intels Mobile ...: Nowadays there is a group of users who demand a lot of computing power at any cost and with any specifications those buy Intel Pentium 4 Extreme Edition or AMD Athlon 64 FX processors that may cost from $700 to $1000 and require larger and louder cooling system, powerful PSUs, huge PC cases and so on. There is also a group of customers, who wish to have a small and stylish personal computer that may not be as fast as the most expensive boxes, but that would be trendy and miniature. Because of thermal and power consumption issues modern Intel Pentium 4 can hardly satisfy all the possible requirements of the second group at a reasonable price, which catalyzes installations of mobile chips into desktops.

Enhanced Asus Mobo May Draw Intel's Ire: The real issue, McCarron said, was one of safety. Intel tolerates overclocking a processor on the end-user level because any resulting problems are limited to individual customers voiding their warranties with the OEM. Overclocking often includes increasing the speed of the front-side bus (FSB) used by both the microprocessor and chipset, and virtually all motherboard makers offer some sort of overclocking utility.
