Driving into Seattle

[Archived in Entry]

[Clint Sharp’s Blog an’ Vlog] The Pacific Northwest is beautiful. This is a drive into Seattle day before yesterday.

Some slightly related from Technorati and Google.

[Lucy's Spleen] The Lately: Okay we're all caught up then folks, and it's clear I'm living in a fast lane of nothin' but Sex, Paint and Moms (oh yeah, and Christ). Moms, since we're talking about MY mom, is really just another word for Rock 'N Roll, and the Christ part makes it totally hardcore, though I admit it doesn't have quite the same ring without Drugs... but didn't we get enough Drugs in my last post?

[stand there. dance with a memory.] wow...the posts are coming fast and furious these ...: now, but really, it's not a big deal. I got to see a fabulous concert last Thursday in Seattle...well... town just across the bridge from Seattle (technically, it's part of Seattle I guess). It's the kind... with Karin's. It's just one of those sublime things. IMG A closer shot of Karin....yeah...she

Sassybiscuit's Space[Sassybiscuit's Space] VACATION: The next day, Drew & I headed to Kowloon Park and wandered the city.  We also headed to see the world's largest sitting Buddha.  i was super psyched.  First, we took a very sketchy bus ride on one lane roads quite a long way and then when we arrived, we bought tickets for the "vegetarian lunch" which allowed us to tour inside the Buddha.  We had to climb a ton of stairs to get to the top - but it was well worth the views.  We toured inside the Buddha, bought a few souvenirs, and then toured the monastery grounds.  We didn't burn any incense but did leave some fruit as a gift to the gods.  The bathrooms were similar to Europe - a nice hole in the ground where you squat.  :-).  I was happy that I found some toilet paper that some nice American probably left behind.  We skipped the vegetarian lunch and headed back toward the train on the bus.  Beautiful land, mountains, and beaches, but scary driving conditions.  When we returned, we went into the Peninsula Hotel to see what the fuss was about and did some more shopping.  All in all, we didn't really buy much, but I did buy a new MP3 player that is about an inch and a half long and half an inch wide.  It fits into the inside pocket of my running shorts :-).

[TVgasm] Tana to Trump: Can I Get A Woop Woop?: yeah why didn't trump talk to more of the contestants in the "jury" (or in chris's case, holding cell)? i thought it was crazy that they just sat there pointlessly the whole time... it was like they were all channeling robyn or something (who was sitting in the audience even though she's on the show).

[For the 'records'] It's A Hit: At this point, maybe I should just get to the point: the music. It was just Joe singing along with his acoustic guitar and he played a wonderful set of songs that spanned his career, from early songs like "Silo" and the Olivia Newton John cover "Please Mr. Please" off of The Scud Mountain Boys' "Pine Box", "Penthouse In The Woods" off of The Scud's "Massachusetts", "Bum Leg" off of Joe Pernice's "Big Tobacco", and Pernice Brothers' tracks such as "Baby In Two", "Overcome By Happiness", and "Cronulla Breakdown". Midway through the set he played a cover of The Zombies' "The Butcher's Tale".

[Victory Is Mine] Random Los Angeles observations: I still can't bring myself to do like over half the assholes there and just blatantly violate the rule when the gym is packed. It is most certainly NOT like getting in the 10-item express lane at Safeway when you have 11 items, nor is it like unbuckling your seat belt before the captain turns off the fasten seat belt sign. It actually is a crappy thing to do to other people. Which is why I can't do it, and I know I gots some good karma building up for my adherence to that shit.

[Nbaspurs.blogspot.com] San Antonio Spurs Blog: Look people, I've been saying it all along, he's a bad jump shooter. SEA knows this and are playing off him, going under the pick and roll and packing the lane. There's no adjustment he can make right now to increase his scoring. He needs pick his spots on the break and kick the ball out earlier on the few half court drives he does get.

[Blogs.provost.org] 32 Entropy Lane: Huge crocodile tears come out of that kid’s eyes at the drop of a hat. I want to go see if that store High Maintenance Bitch is even still open in downtown Seattle. The website is really well done and looks like it has tons of cute stuff if I was one of those people who feels the need to make my dog look like a hooker. And I’m not.

Jimcarson.comhttp://www.jimcarson.com [Jimcarson.com] Jim Carson: My stomach was reeling from the ill-effects of Tuesday evening's "Asian food" potluck. And on top of that, I was thinking too much about Eric's keyboard exercise. (Okay, not too much -- ewwwww.) I plodded into work at an uncharacteristically late 9:30, unsure if I'd need to stop to avail myself of the seemingly ubiquitous Honey Buckets dotting the construction areas.

[Cascadiascorecard.typepad.com] Cascadia Scorecard Weblog: A Study in Contrasts: Montlake has been intrigued by the possibility of a 4-lane reconstructed highway with congestion pricing to achieve HOV speed and reliability with a smaller cost and environmental impact than a 6 lane configuration. However, we have been unsuccessful in convincing regional decision makers that this is a viable approach worth studying, and we have been told that a new 6 lane bridge, adding HOV lanes, is all but a foregone conclusion. A 6 lane floating bridge is a bow to political reality, and may have much merit, as it is frankly unclear whether congestion pricing is sufficient to achieve the speed and reliability HOV lanes would offer to transit given other, fixed constraints on the system (e.g. congestion on I-5).
