„We then watched this one group of writers have a freestyle round robin competition on the walls. Though the work was not overly impressive, their activities drew a crowd of Berlin graf-headz, complete with the standard graf girlies and backpack homeboys filming everything with digital camcorders.“

Some slightly related:
„Sachs witnessed first hand the early years of the Nazi regime in Berlin, including the burning of the Reichstagebäude, or Parliament building on February 27, 1933, and Kristalnacht, the Night of Broken Glass. This was only the first of many pogroms against the Jewish citizens of Germany. On the night of November 9, 1938, Jewish homes, businesses and temples were vandalized and destroyed, leading to more and more restrictions in the lives of Jews.“http://fs.huntingdon.edu/las/102/supplem/ nellysachs.htm - Cached
„RIAS BERLIN COMMISSION - Germany Exchange Programs German/American Exchange Program: Reports of American Participants - Fall 2002 Sandra Abrams, CNN Financial News I was thrilled to be selected to be a RIAS Commission Fellow for the Fall of 2002. Right from the start the personnel for the RTNDF in Washington DC and RIAS commission in Berlin did everything possible to make our journalism exchange program an enriching professional opportunity. The program was well organized from the prepared reading material to the meetings and events which helped us learn more about Germany and broadcast journalism.“http://www.riasberlinkommission.de/ us-com-exch-de2002fall.html - Cached
„I'm not one of those who accuse Spiegel of being far left; they are simply confused and primitive, and they just don't understand how their US coverage feeds anti-Americanism in Germany. Look at those letters if you don't believe in the self-congratulatory and self-certain blindness of the German America haters. And now they want to take their virulent form of wahhabi Gutmenschlichkeit on the road in English.“http://medienkritik.typepad.com/blog/2004/03/ interesting_dev.html - Cached

„As a member of the committee that designed the BDP series, "Confronting the Past: Contemporary Eastern European Writers" (and, alas, as a European historian in another life, long, long ago), I am interested in the responses by some members of the groups reading this series that they need some kind of history of the period in order to properly discuss the works they are reading. Such has not been the case with all our other series, and I'm wondering why it is with this particular series. Is it because we are dealing with a culture that is so plainly different from ours, whose mental furniture is not quite in the same place as ours, that we perhaps think we need to have a history when what we may really need is the will to dig a little deeper to try to understand an aesthetic and a view of life that is not "American"?“http://www.uwyo.edu/wch/arceew.htm - Cached
