ICM532 webcam support for Linux

[Archived in Entry]

http://www.stillhq.com [stillhq.com - Openpdf 0.1, and other posts] An original project was superseded by another project which had some interesting links to information on the camera. Compare and contrast with a NetBSD driver for the same camera. This specification might also come in handy.

Some slightly related:

[Planet Geek!] Multitasking in the aughts.: Unix (and by extension Linux, and even Mac folks) tend to run their desktops as a series of floating or tiled windows - each application running in its own window, but with the windows overlapping or tiling. On Unix, I personally set up multiple desktops - one having my 'communications' stuff (email, irc, etc), and another having my 'work' desktop (editor, compiler, reference materials). My experience watching Windows users tends to show them running the 2 or 3 applications they have available all in full screen mode - and generally it is in fact only 1-2 apps.

[Robotines] Ubuntu madness: In the years I’ve been using Linux, I’ve gone through a lot of distributions. When SuSE choked on its own KDE 2 packages, I scraped the whole distro thing and went Linux from Scratch. When I got tired of waiting forever for new software to compile, I jumped to Debian, which I’ve used since because it’s great.

[Tech Dose Information] Spyware From Tech Dose Information: He will explore the Internet with you as your very own friend and sidekick! He can talk, walk, joke, browse, search, e-mail, and download like no other friend you've ever had! He even has the ability to compare prices on the products you love and help you save money! Best of all, he's FREE!

Sujeet[Sujeet] Still theoretical, but stil...: I've seen 'em in the past, put 'em to the test for a looonnng periods of time, and they've failed. Most of these come in Linux flavors only, so they seem to naturally distance themselves from the standard Windows crowd (also known as 65% or more of the entire planet). I saw one of these WEP-cracking demonstrations in Vegas, and was convinced that it took either some really silly WEP keys (they are like passwords, and its usually easy to guess passwords that are common social values like your name, your address number, your phone number et al), or that it took some real high-powered computing coupled with some secret tools and a LOT of time.
