Video4Linux, ov511, and RGB24 palettes

[Archived in Entry]

http://www.stillhq.com/cgi-bin/blosxom [stillhq.com - Collisions in MD5 sums, and other posts] The short answer is that they're not supported by the driver. You'll get this error message when you try to set that palette value via the ioctl: > Could not set picture information: Invalid argument > So, I'll need to twiddle my code which works with ov519s to also do the YUV to RGB conversion. > Technorati tags for this post: linux ov511 usb webcam video4linux > Comment on this post...

Some slightly related from Technorati and Google.

http://www.antonym.org [Antonym.org] Project: libfg - Video4Linux Framegrabber Library | antonym.org: Linux has support for TV tuners and frame grabbers. This is provided by the Video4Linux API, which has been around since roughly kernel 2.2. V4L is actually an interface implemented by a number of different drivers or kernel modules that support the different types of hardware.

http://www.alllinuxinfo.com [Alllinuxinfo.com] Webcam-HOWTO Linux Howto Linux: Linux Help, Linux Operating System ...: IEEE 1394 webcams require an IEEE 1394 PCI card in your computer for access. The IEEE interface has been supported in Linux since the early 2.4-serieskernel. If you are lucky enough to own such a device, generic information onsupport of the IEEE 1394 bus in Linux can be found at [http://www.linux1394.org] www.linux1394.org. If you have a kernel older than 2.4.2,you will need to patch your kernel with one of the patches found on [http://download.sourceforge.net/linux1394] this page matched to your kernel version. In addition, you will require [http://download.sourceforge.net/libraw1394]libraw1394.

Gidforums.comhttp://www.gidforums.com [Gidforums.com] GIDForums - Trust Spyc@m 500 on Debian: Anyway, look through your kernel configuration file and see what you have as far as USB support. I think that you are going to have to enable Video For Linux (which is not enabled by default I believe) and I load my USB support as a module. There are a few webcam drivers that you can try out as well in the kernel.
